This article on using Story-telling Hashtags is the fourth in our Branded Social Media Profile series.

How Can you Identify Influencers on Social Media?

Because SMI* are outstanding, and people really LISTEN to them, it’s not hard to identify them.

Do this: start to follow the hashtags that are related to your product (the best hashtags to follow are ones with less than 0.5M uses) and see which SMI influences the most. Good idea?

A Brand-Influencer Contract is a must to clarify the relationship. For example, make sure to require the SMI (social media influencer) to add #Ad or #Sponsored to their posts to comply with the law.

How Your Influencer Social Media Bio Should Look

An influencer’s social media bio should look a bit different from an “ordinary” bio. Their bio should be outstanding and unique so they’ll manage to climb to the top of the channel’s algorithm and their followers’ love.

A hashtag (such as #NowIsNow) is a way for people to file their posts on social media (that’s also the SEO of social media…) It is also one of the main ways Instagram/Twitter/FB/etc. find your posts and know who to relate and share them with. If you want to find the top influencer for what you do, ‘Chase the Hashtags’.

How do I figure out which hashtags to search to find Influencers?

The idea is to find a hashtag that is very related to what you do. To do that, start with a general hashtag search, and drill down from there, as per my ‘Chase The Hashtags’ method (publicly available).

What are the best ways to select the ideal Influencers for your brand?

Really the best way is to search who talks best and who engages best on the hashtags that are related to your brand, and…stay low for a while, understand the potential. Then few weeks later, if you still like what you see, buy their influence via pay per post – the SMI* are almost always willing to do that — that’s what they do for a living!
