I don’t cover influencers. I cover SOCIAL MEDIA influencers (also called “SMI”). And… not every online platform is a social media platform, but you know that, right? Here are the ones that are, and here are the ones that aren’t… As usual, send me comments any time on my Twitter or by email.
YES Social Media
These are the platforms that ARE considered social media:
YouTube? Instagram? Parler? Telegram? Signal? Line? WeChat? Oh yes!
Surprise: Quora, eVite, Spark, Meetup, Flipboard, FreeSpace, Houseparty, Skype, Nextdoor and… texting too:
All of the below are yes yes and yes
NO Social Media
Now for those that are NOT social media:
A blog is not social media.
A newspaper? No! Not even when they have a comments section!
Podcasts? I listen to those for least 3 hours a day when I’m walking or working, and I’m telling you, it’s such an amazing medium, I even fall asleep with them. But.. they’re not social media.
Pinterest – I wish it was social media. My life as a researcher could be so good, as they have even released tools for creators… But the problem is that Pinterest has said themselves that Pinterest is not a social media platform, and I cover social media influence only.
Here is the full list of platforms that are NOT social media:
And so – do me a favor – let’s focus on SOCIAL MEDIA Influence only, and that’s where social media influencers are.
